Queertawe are looking for an experienced theatre designer to work with us on our project between July and December 2024.
We have allocated 4 days in December to put on queer led creative events in Central Swansea. These will hopefully be a variety of things including, cabaret performances, art exhibitions, performance, movement pieces, concerts…endless possibilities.
This is a unique opportunity to be the lead designer working with our participants to create set, prop and costume elements.
This opportunity is open to individuals or small collectives of people working collaboratively.
Essential job responsibilities.
- Be the lead designer for the Queertawe Project
- Have strong communication skills and liaise with the creative team including the lead artists, exec producer, community producer & producer on the creative direction in the visual and design elements of the project and production
- Lead community based workshops with Queertawe participants
- Incorporate community based work within design
- Source materials for design elements for the productions
- Make design elements for the productions
- Mange budget in line with producer
- Create a safe and creative space for queer communities
- Connect with other artists on project
- Coordinate with various departments, such as production and stage management, to ensure the timely and efficient execution of the design elements.
This role would include community workshops starting during the Summer and running through the Autumn as well as exclusive commitment between 25th Nov – 10 Dec.
Fee aligns with Equity rates and will be discussed with artists during interview.
