Craft in an Age of Change is a major survey of contemporary craft at the beginning of the second decade of the 21st century.
It examines the place of craft in the creative economy and the working patterns of makers and other craft professionals.
It also looks at a number of increasingly prominent issues, including
- the value of craft skills and knowledge in an economy where skills are high on the agenda;
- the impact of digital technology on a sector where ‘hand-made’ might be seen as a de facto requirement;
- the increasing need for environmentalsensitivity; and the revaluing of the different facets of professional lives in answer to the 21st century move towards portfolio careers.
This document is a summary of the main report, and has been prepared for Arts Council of Wales.
