We want to see the development of contemporary, experimental and exciting new work as well as having our eyes opened to hidden traditional and historical art forms and cultures.
We want our mainstream venues to be innovative and take risks to programme work that might challenge existing audiences but which also has the potential to attract new people.
The purpose of the programme is to:
- Help artists from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds to access support, training and development opportunities to enable them to create their work
- Nurture relationships between artists from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds and venues, presenters and other arts organisations. Encouraging innovation and diversity programming, leading to increased opportunities for their work to be presented in Wales
- Help Arts Council of Wales improve its understanding of and relationship with artists from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, contributing to increased take up of its services and funding by them
