Dance and Dementia Programme

The Dance and Dementia Programme offers regular dance session for people who are living with Dementia in residential homes throughout Gwynedd, Conwy & Ynys Môn.

What is the Dance and Dementia Programme?

This project is facilitated by Dawns i Bawb, a member of Arts Portfolio Wales with almost 30 years’ experience in delivering Community Dance provision across Conwy, Gwynedd and Ynys Môn.

The project aims to deliver creative dance and movement sessions to people living with Dementia and who live in residential care homes across the three counties.

Improving health and well-being through dance

The focus of the sessions is on health and well-being, improving cognitive function, relieving stress and loneliness, improve social interaction and communication and increase self-esteem and confidence.

‘Dawns i Bawb is just one innovative and forward thinking scheme we are using to bring the arts and music to our residents and it’s clear to me the sessions are having a positive effect.’

‘It’s clear to me that very often the dance and movement is sparking something from the past in residents and that has to be a good thing.’
- Nia Davis-Williams, Bryn Seiont Care Home
