The Spread the Word Children's Literature and Arts Festival will be the biggest event in Wales on World Book Day and this years Theme is all about the Great Outdoors. 02 Apr 2019

Press Release Spread the Word Festival Thursday April 11th 2019 - The Biggest event Celebrating World Book Day in Wales.

Taking place on Thursday April 11th 2019 from 9am until 3pm with over 3000 children in attendance and is based in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales.

The Event is hosted by the Stephens and George Charitable Trust and is in its 6th Year. It is being opened at 10am at St David's Church Merthyr Tydfil and many prominent figures from across the youth field will be in attendance.

The whole ethos of the Festival is to inspire young people to read and write many prominent literature and art figures will be in attendance such as Mererid Hopwood, Daniel Morden, Lucy Owen from the BBC. The Festival will come alive with over 50 giant Flowers, a 120 ft castle , dinosaurs , giant stilt walkers dressed as tress , Life size dinosaurs and lots more .

At 9.30am a parade of over 1000 children will see the town coming to standstill with all participants dressed as Flowers , Trees , and animals …..


* Over 100 Welsh stalls selling craft items and foods including, slate making, Welsh cheese, bread and chocolate.
* There will be over 120 Workshops on the day in 19 venues across Merthyr Tydfil.


At the Festival we want to inspire young people through positive role models and show young people from Primary schools, Secondary schools and colleges what career opportunities there are and also promote STEM. Techniquest will be running workshops and the STEM ambassador organisation from Wales will be in attendance.
