Anthem Board Announcement

Anthem is a new music endowment fund for Wales aimed at opening up musical opportunities for children and young people from as young as three years old up to twenty-five to develop their skills and talent, and access to achieve their potential.

Arnout van der Veer, said:

"I am delighted to announce the successful recruitment of seven experienced individuals who feel passionate about our mission and who will join Anthem’s Board at this crucial early stage in its development. This brings to Board up to its full complement of 11 members and I look forward now to working with these colleagues to develop the strategy for Anthem including how we begin the process of raising the capital for the endowment"

The Board is well balanced in terms of skills, experience, professional background and diversity. All are exceptional leaders in their specific areas of expertise, and bring significant experience in working with Charities, music, (international) business, fundraising and young people engagement.

Joining the Board are:

Beate Degan, Dan O’Gorman, Eric Martin, Mark Hill, Michael Pugh, Sue Griffin, and Toks Dada.

They join the existing members of the Board, David Alston, Gareth Williams and Phil Sheeran.

The Welsh Government has supported the setting up of the Fund and over the past year the Arts Council of Wales has been working on the initial-stage feasibility and establishment of Anthem as a charitable company. The focus of the new board will be on building strong relationships with key stakeholders and capitalising the fund so that it can have longer term impact and create a lasting legacy.

In closing, Arnout van der Veer said:

"It is a great encouragement that the Welsh Government has made a £1m Investment. Our ambitions for this fund and its ability to boost the musical talents of Wales’ Young people means that we want to make it a much larger fund, and make it a truly ground-breaking and transformative initiative while also seeking synergy with existing initiatives and creating partnership with other Welsh organisations"
