We hold on to those summer vibes at the beginning of the programme with a chaotic and fun circus show, Now or Never by Circa Tsuica from France, joined by Tryfan Jazz Band, in a big top on Friars field, Coleg Menai, Bangor 13-15 September. At the end of the month there’ll be a chance to enjoy performances by Côr Ieuenctid Môn, Gruffydd Wyn Roberts (Britain’s Got Talent), Aelwyd JMJ and Band Pres Llareggub in A Celebratory Concert.

Local band Banda Bacana will be the first to perform in our Cabaret Pontio series as they launch their new album, Stop the Planet. We will also welcome Jamie Smith’s Mabon from Wales, Frigg from Finland and Fara from Scotland. There will be three stand-up gigs; Public Service Broadcasting which is already sold out, Candelas, Fleur De Lys and Ffracas on 20 October and Geraint Jarman will perform on 10 November following the recent release of his new album, Cariad Cwantwm.

Tudur Owen returns as one of November Comedy Club’s comedians amongst a fantastic line up of comedians who are currently touring the UK, and the one and only Rich Hall returns to the Theatre on 18 October. There’ll be much laughter in our monthly family shows as well, which is going from strength to strength with many families enjoying the creative workshops with local artists which follow the shows.

Marking a century since the death of Debussy, the pianist Iwan Llewelyn-Jones and broadcaster and TV presenter Bethan Rhys Roberts will present a special concert to celebrate his life and work on 11 October. Old favourites return as Welsh National Opera invites us to their rip-roaring new production Rhondda Rips It Up! about the heroine of the Welsh Suffrage movement, Margaret Haig Thomas and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales present two concerts which includes working and performing alongside the unique Welsh singer, Alys Williams.

To continue with the National Health Service’s 70th birthday celebrations, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru’s new production, Nyrsys, will open at Pontio on 6 November with script and songs created from interviews with ‘real’ nurses. Theatr Bara Caws performs Meic Povey’s drama, Dwyn i Gof, Invertigo Theatre Company present a Welsh adaptation of Tim Crouch’s venturous drama, Derwen, where one of two actors changes in every performance and will not have seen the script beforehand, and Rhodri Miles brings Sieiloc (Shylock) to the Studio.

Ten years since the release of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas film, the author of the novel, John Boyne will be in conversation with Jon Gower in the Theatre. balletLORENT brings the story of Rumpelstiltskin alive in a ballet production which sees locals of all ages perform as part of the show, and Ballet Cymru presents a new version of Dylan Thomas’ A Child’s Christmas in Wales with none other than Cerys Mathews narrating.

There will also be plenty to entertain the family before Christmas with Cwmni Mega staging the well-known tale from the Mabinogi, Branwen in a pantomime production and Pontio and Theatr Clwyd presenting their first co-production, a magical show called, Llew a’r Crydd.

Pontio’s artistic director, Elen ap Robert said: "As we look forward to the autumn season, we hope you can join us to celebrate local and national talents, and that with an exciting and varied programme."
