PEN Y FAN SPECTACLE FOR LAUNCH OF GET CREATIVE WEEKEND

To celebrate the launch of the Get Creative Weekend, April 7-9, Theatr Brycheiniog have teamed up with award winning dance and installation artist Phil Williams for a spectacular interactive project that will transform Pen y Fan into Wales’s largest living art installation, Friday April 7. 17 Mar 2017

PEN Y FAN SPECTACLE FOR LAUNCH OF GET CREATIVE WEEKEND

With around 1000 participants expected to take part, this unique project will kick off this year’s bumper weekend to celebrate the nation’s creativity. It gives people across Wales an opportunity to try something, make something and get creative.

During last year’s Get Creative weekend, a giant statue of Boudicca was revealed at Caernarfon Castle. This year’s project led by Theatr Brycheiniog will take the event to new heights with a mass participation installation on one of Wales’s most iconic mountains, Pen y Fan, in the Brecon Beacons.

The project will be working with Brecon Beacons National Park, The National Trust, BBC Wales and Arts Council of Wales, with teams of volunteers from local dance groups, cadets, youth theatres and the general public from across the country. Families are encouraged to participate but under 18s will need to be supervised at all times.

Phil Williams, Choreographer, says: "I’m excited to create Heart of Wales, bringing the communities of Wales together for a mass participation arts event on the side of Pen Y Fan. Creating a large scale installation of bodies in motion, we will literally be moving the mountain in what promises to be a spectacular event."

Get Creative is a campaign to celebrate and support the everyday creativity happening in homes and public spaces. Creative organisations across Wales are opening their doors with a series of free events to fire the imagination.
