Sir Leslie Joseph Young Artist Award 2017

The biennial Sir Leslie Joseph Young Artist Award has grown in status and prestige since its inception in 1996, and is a joint venture between the Friends of the Glynn Vivian and the Gallery itself. The Award has been made possible by a generous donation received from the late Sir Leslie Joseph. 19 Dec 2016

Sir Leslie Joseph Young Artist Award 2017

The Award will enable the winner to hold his/her first professional exhibition at the Glynn Vivian.

Glynn Vivian Art Gallery reopened in October 2016, after a multimillion pound redevelopment which has been funded by the Arts Council of Wales, Swansea Council, the Welsh Government, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Cadw. Funding was also secured through the Building EnhancementProgramme grant scheme run by Swansea Council and funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Entry is free and the basic criteria for eligibility are:

AGE: Between 21 and 35 years at the closing date for entries
EDUCATION: To have been undertaken in Wales at some stage in career

The award will consist of:
• An exhibition of the winning artist’s work at the Gallery between April and June 2017
• An official opening with associated publicity
• The services of a professional photographer to record the exhibition
